Sunflower oil is a light yellow, mild-tasting oil that is extracted from sunflower seeds. It is commonly used for cooking due to its high smoke point, making it suitable for frying, sautéing and baking as well as commonly used in salad dressings. Sunflower oil is also rich in vitamin E and low in saturated fats, making it a healthier alternative to other cooking oils. Additionally, it is used in cosmetic products because of the high concentration of linoleic acid that helps maintain the skin’s natural barrier and locks in moisture to prevent trans-epidermal water loss.
